People will do the stupidest things if you say it is to “protect the children.”  Children live in the same world as the rest of us. And hiding unwholesome facts from them doesn’t protect them, it leaves them unprepared (thinking particularly of Anne Frank above and the recent case of The Invisible Man). Censorship sucks, guys.
